After the initial contact via telephone or email you will be allocated to a counsellor who will arrange to meet you at one of our practices for an initial consultation session. This is where you will tell the therapist a bit about yourself and what you are having difficulties with, along with any questions you may have for them. This is the time where you and the therapist will decide collaboratively if you will be able to work with each other and discuss what is best for you. It is then recommended that you take the time to reflect on your session and decide if this is the right path for you.
How long is each session?
Each session is 50 minutes long and is at a cost of £45 a session. Should you feel this is not sustainable then please contact us as we can negotiate a discount depending on your circumstance.
For students studying counselling who want to work on their own personal therapy we able to offer a reduced rate.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions you will need will be dictated by you. This is your therapy and so is controlled by you. There is no set amount of sessions recommended as each person is different and has different presenting issues and should you decide to stop counselling then it would be advisable to give a weeks notice so we can end the sessions safely.
Every six sessions we will evaluate where you feel you are at and we will discuss the plans going forward.
What if I can’t make a session?
We understand that life sometimes gets in the way and as a result may need to reschedule your appointment. We would request at least 48hrs notice by either telephone or email but any less will require the agreed rate for the missed session.
How do I pay?
You can pay by cheque made payable to the therapist, or with cash at the session. We can also take a BAC’s transfer and you will be provided wthe relevant information at the initial consultation session.
